Mavericks CEO Cynthia Marshall becomes the first African-American female CEO of an NBA team

In 2018, the Dallas Mavericks hired Cynthia “Cynt” Marshall to become the franchise’s new CEO.

Cynthia grew up in Richmond, CA, and earned degrees in business administration and human resources management from the University of California-Berkeley. In addition, she holds honorary doctorate of humane letters degrees from Livingstone College and Bennett College.
She was tapped by Mavericks owner Mark Cuban to help the organization turn its culture around after facing several allegations of sexual harassment and abuse under its former CEO Terdema Ussery.
