Chinese man rejected after buying £1k toy to impress girl
A love-struck man failed to win the heart of a university student he liked despite staging an elaborate event in public.
The man, reported to be the son of a rich businessman in Hangzhou, had spent over 10,000 yuan (£1,120) buying a giant toy bear before driving it in his luxury car to declare his love for the woman.
According to local reports, the man drove his white Porsche 911 Targa into Hangzhou Normal University on the afternoon of September 25.
The toy bear, measuring 2.5 metres (8.2 ft), was so big the man had to open the car's sunroof as he drove across the city.
Pictures have emerged online capturing how the man gave the bear to a woman wearing white T-shirt and blue jeans.
A crowd of students stood by and waited for the man to make his romantic advances.
As the man presented the toy to his love interest on campus, the woman, however, wasn't impressed.
She reportedly said: 'I like the bear, but I don't like you.'
It is said that the man had spent over 10,000 yuan (£1,120) buying the limited edition giant bear.
The bear was apparently one of the four such toys available in China, which he claimed to have bought online.
