Family Of British Woman Jailed In Egypt Over Pain Killers Fear She Won’t Be Able To Survive
Laura Plummer, 33, was arrested with 300 Tramadol tablets in October and has been kept inside a squalid jail cell with 25 other prisoners ever since.
Now her family say she is about to be transferred to the hellish Qena prison to begin her sentence.
And they claim the Foreign Office have been little help after Laura was 'made to sign a document in Arabic' yesterday.
After that the shop worker sobbed in the dock when she was told she had 'confessed to her crimes'.
Her heartbroken sister Jayne Synclair, 40, told the Mirror she fears Laura "will probably be dead" if she has to serve three years in the Egyptian jail.
Ms Synclair said: "If she ever makes it out of there, I will be amazed.
"She will probably be dead if she has to stay in there for three years.
"She is not the strongest person, she's already having a nervous breakdown and is being kicked and punched in the holding prison.
"We think the sentence is absolutely disgusting. We are devastated and we are speechless."
Laura's mother Roberta was in court as her daughter was handed the harsh sentence.
Ms Plummer, from Hull, has always maintained the Tramadol tablets were for her partner, Omar Caboo, who suffers from severe back pain.
