During one visit the pair went to a garage where Dorogov, who is thought to be involved in illegal street racing, kept his car. It is thought that the pair started kissing in the car and undressed to have sex.

The pair soon felt chilly so Dorogov reportedly turned the engine on to keep them warm. But the doors to the garage were shut, meaning the room quickly filled with a deadly level of carbon monoxide. The pair soon began to feel unwell and Dorogov decided to turn off the car’s engine.

He attempted to climb out of the vehicle but passed out while doing so. When he regained consciousness, he allegedly left the garage with Alena still passed out inside the car.

Dorogov then rushed to his relatives and told them what had happened. They called an ambulance but paramedics were unable to help Alena, who was already dead. Dorogov has now been charged with involuntary manslaughter and sexual intercourse with a person younger than 16.
