Police Arrest Suspected Kidnappers, Cattle Rustlers in Zamfara


The Police Command in Zamfara State said on Wednesday that it had arrested five suspected kidnappers and cattle rustlers and recovered 31 cows from them.
 
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Muhammad Shehu, in a statement in Gusau, said a police team arrested the three-man gang of suspected kidnappers while on patrol along Ruwan-Dawa village of Dansadau Emirate in Maru Local Government Area of the state.
 
According to him, the exhibits recovered from the suspects included a locally-made revolver pistol, a riffle of sixteen-round capacity and a motorcycle.
 
He further said that two suspected cattle rustlers who on Jan. 15 attacked Tungar Dundu village in Anka Local Government Area and stole 31 cows belonging to Alhaji Mohammad Dandare, were also arrested.
 
“As the case was reported to the police, the anti-cattle rustling team of the command swung into action and arrested two suspects in Dangurunfa, Bukkuyum Local Government Area,

“The 31 cows were recovered from the suspects and the suspects are assisting the police with information. They will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed”, Shehu said.
 
The PPRO enjoined the residents to continue to support the police with useful information in order to improve security and maintain peace and stability in the state.
