Stop Attacking Buhari, He Has Done Well - Kalu
A former Governor of Abia State, Mr. Orji Kalu, has urged retired military generals to stop attacking President Muhammadu Buhari who he says has done so well since he assumed office as President.
Kalu also said President Buhari deserved to be re-elected in 2019.
The former governor spoke at the palace of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, on Friday, during a visit to the monarch.
He stressed that there was no need for the retired Generals to attack the President in the name of criticism, saying such attacks could cause disunity in the country.
He said, “People whose statements divide the country, people who, instead of building unity, are building disunity for us; it is not the best way. Some people have come out to attack the President violently and when two Generals fight, you know what will happen.
“It will cause a war. So, we don’t want them to fight. This is why we are going to some palaces, telling the traditional rulers close to their people to tell them to keep quiet and be firm in the process of democracy.
“Democracy is not built in one day. Democracy is something that evolves. We cannot agree on one person. There must be divided opinions and we are not asking everybody to agree on what we agreed on. But we should try to be detrabilised Nigerians.
“The President is doing very well; he might have made mistakes in one or two things, but we are on board to tell him this is not good. But in terms of service delivery, this President has delivered in two, three years what no other President can give to the country.”
