Twin Sisters Whose OCD Caused Them To Shower For 10 Hours Every Day Kill Themselves

Twins sisters who suffered from OCD so severe they showered for 10 hours a day have died in a suspected suicide pact.

Sara and Amanda Eldritch were found dead with gunshot wounds in a car near their home in Royal Gorge, Colorado, on Friday – with local cops saying they believed their deaths were a pre-agreed suicide pact.

The 33-year-old sisters suffered from germaphobia so severe that they also went through five bottles of rubbing alcohol a day, and disinfected their skin with bleach until their eyebrows turned orange.

Their OCD also made leaving home so stressful that if they had to do so, the twins wouldn’t eat or drink for hours beforehand to avoid using public loos.


Sara and Amanda underwent pioneering deep brain stimulation surgery in 2015 that it was hoped would alleviate their mental anguish.

It uses electrical currents in an attempt to regulate the brain patterns which can cause neural conditions.

But sadly the suicidal thoughts that the sisters said had plagued them since the age of 13 now appear to have overwhelmed them.

A Fremont County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said: “After further investigation and results from the autopsy this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.”

A GoFundMe page set up to support the girls’ mother Kathy Worland said their deaths had brought her ‘unspeakable sorrow’ shortly after she lost both her parents.
