This is not a drill!
At long last, Lil Wayne has finally released his highly-anticipated 12th solo studio album Tha Carter V on Friday (Sept. 28). After Tune teased the project two weeks ago, we started hearing rumblings on Thursday (Sept. 20) that the frequently-delayed album might be coming out the following day. Fans waiting with bated breath were disappointed when the project did not drop but were re-inspired on Sept. 25 when Wayne made things official, confirming the release date. The new LP is the follow-up to 2015's Free Weezy Album and the sequel to 2011's Tha Carter IV.

For his comeback, Weezy offers 23 tracks on C5 and gets guest appearances from XXXTentacion, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott and more.
The release of the album comes on the heels of Tune settling his long-standing lawsuit with his estranged label home Cash Money Records in June. Even more recently, it was announced ownership of Young Money Records has been forwarded solely to the decorated New Orleans rapper, after previously sharing a minority split of the label with Birdman and CMR. Now, with all the red tape behind him, it's officially go time.
The album has perfect timing as it was recently announced Wayne will be the recipient of the I Am Hip Hop award at the upcoming BET Hip Hop Awards, airing on Oct. 6.
