#WOWJBR Dubai kicks off 2019 with a brand-new new theme

As part of #WOWJBR's monthly themes, Dubai’s beachside spot is putting on a “Mind and Soul” theme throughout January, introducing three unique festivals that focus on all things wellbeing.

The events will kick off this weekend (Thursday January 10 to Saturday 12) with an arts festival filled with lively caricaturists, speed painters, glitter painters, dancing paintings and roaming graffiti characters. Music artist Jindi will also be there to entertain crowds with a live performance.
More of a fitness fan? Starting on Thursday January 17, the following two weekends will see a sports festival set up, packed with sport events and activities, including free fitness and yoga classes.

Once you’re worked up a sweat, expect live acoustic performances from Ibby VK, Greg Pearson, Josh McCartney and Jamie Wrecs, along with tightrope artists, electric capoeira dancers and LED jump rope performers.
Finally, from Thursday January 31 to Saturday February 2, a nature festival will take up the streets, with hula hoop dancers, flower stilt walkers and themed characters roaming about the place. As for live musical entertainment, singer and songwriter Francoise Crosbie will be playing chilled tunes, while the little ones can be entertained by a special LED puppet show.

JBR will also have specially set up holograms and 3D mapping, along with a “larger-than-life Rubik’s Cube” that anyone can try their hand at solving to win prizes. Visitors can also walk along JBR’s lengthy 1.7km promenade under a canopy of lights and head over to the photo wall for those Insta-snaps. As for kids, a dedicated children’s zone will have interactive workshops and activities to keep them busy. The buzzing event has already seen a carnival theme and winter wonderland theme since it started in last November, but there’s more to come.

February will see an international theme overlapping with Chinese New Year celebrations with traditional East Asian practices, and to finish the #WOWJBR season on a high note, March’s arts theme will have installations, roaming art displays and a delectable food festival.
Speaking of festivals, Dubai is setting up Cheese Fest and it will have hundreds of free samples for lovers of dairy to try.
Get ready for some well-deserved R&R.
