Venezuela Coach Says Women Were Sent To Distract Players Ahead Of World Cup Qualifier
Venezuela boss Rafael Dudamel has claimed “several women” were sent to distract his players ahead of Wednesday’s crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier against Paraguay. The South American qualifiers came to a dramatic end with Argentina managing to progress and Chile missing out.
Paraguay still had a chance to qualify going into their last tie against bottom of the table Venezuela – and seemingly did all they could to ensure victory.
Speaking in his post-match conference following the clash, Dudamel said: “There were several women visits last night at the hotel but football players have changed. “We were not surprised by these female visits, I do not know who sent them (the women). These are old strategies.”
La Vinotinto won the qualifier 1-0 thanks to an 84th minute goal from Yangel Herrera.
Had Paraguay won the tie they would have sealed a qualifying spot instead of Peru.
