#Ramadan 2018 to begin May 17, confirms Oman
Oman has declared that Ramadan 2018 will begin on Thursday May 17 – following predictions of that date by officials in Sharjah.
It's not 100 percent certain that the UAE's moon-sighting committee will declare the same start here, but it's beginning to look more and more likely. The gulf country's Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs confirmed yesterday that Ramadan will start on May 17, meaning that Eid Al Fitr is expected to fall on Friday June 15. Providing that the same date is declared in the UAE, fasting hours here will be 13.25 hours at the beginning of Ramadan increasing to 15 hours by the end of the month.
